Masterson’s Pub , located in the heart of Moonee Ponds , advertises itself as a stylish, alternative venue , but my unfortunate encounter at this establishment quickly devolved into an unforgettable, terrible experience. While the bar may present a friendly façade, what I experienced behind its walls was disgraceful and unfit for any venue.
The State of Affairs: Unhygienic and Neglected
From the moment I stepped inside , it was apparent that hygiene was not a priority at this bar . The floors were sticky , and a foul smell of old alcohol and uncleaned toilets filled the entire bar . Reeking of a mixture of human waste, putrefaction and sour vomit . The bar area , which should be the focal point of any pub, was cluttered with dirty glasses and trash that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks . The bathroom was in even more deplorable shape —overflowing , with a cracked flush mechanism and surfaces marked in what I can only assume was feces.

Many customers have reported seeing bugs darting across the bar area and signs of rats in the basement .
